How It Works
How does Hold My Letter work?+
We offer two ways to send a letter to the future! Handwritten Letters: Sign up and pay online, then receive a verification code and our mailing address. Write your letter by hand, write the code on the back of the envelope, seal it up, and mail it to us. We store it safely for 6 months to 2 years, then mail it back to you with tracking. Digital Letters: Type your letter on our site, receive a verification code, choose any delivery date 1 month or more out, and we’ll deliver it by email on that date. You can also add physical mailing for a printed copy.
What’s the verification code for?+
The verification code connects your letter to your online order. For handwritten letters, write the code on the back of the envelope so we can match it when it arrives. For digital letters, the code is included in your confirmation and links your letter to your account. It’s your receipt and your tracking number all in one.
What if I forget to write the code on my handwritten letter?+
Don’t panic! As a backup, we can try to match your letter using the name you signed up with. Make sure the name on your letter matches your account. But please try to include the code—it makes everything much smoother!
Do you read my letter?+
No! Handwritten letters stay sealed the entire time—we never open, read, or share your contents. Digital letters are encrypted and stored securely. Your words are yours alone.
Pricing & Payment
How much does it cost?+
Handwritten Letters: 6 Month ($14.99), 1 Year ($19.99), or 2 Year ($34.99). All one-time payments. All include secure climate-controlled storage and tracked return delivery. Digital Letters: Single letter $9, 3-letter pack $19, or The Annual $96/year (one letter per month + year-end cloth-bound archive). Optional add-on: physical mailed copy for $5 per letter.
Is there a subscription?+
Most options are one-time payments—no recurring charges. The only subscription option is The Annual ($96/year), which gives you one digital letter per month and a year-end cloth-bound archive mailed to your door.
Shipping & Delivery
How do I send my handwritten letter to you?+
After you pay, you’ll receive our mailing address and your verification code. Write your letter, write the code on the back of the envelope, seal it up, and mail it to us using regular mail. If you want extra privacy, put your sealed letter inside a second envelope—we’ll only open the outer one.
When will I get my letter back?+
Handwritten: We mail your letter back on the delivery date matching the package you chose (6 months, 1 year, or 2 years from when we receive it). We use tracked shipping so you’ll know exactly when it’s on its way. Digital: Your letter is delivered by email on the exact date you choose, 1 month or more out.
What if I move before my letter arrives?+
Handwritten: Email us at support@holdmyletter.com with your verification code and new address before the return date, and we’ll update it. If a letter is returned as undeliverable, we’ll contact you via email. Digital: Email us with your verification code and the updated recipient email address anytime before the delivery date.
Do you ship internationally?+
Handwritten letters currently ship within the United States only—international shipping coming soon! Digital letters are available worldwide since they’re delivered by email.
Letters to Someone Special
Can I send a letter to someone else?+
Yes! Both handwritten and digital letters can be sent to anyone you love. It’s a perfect surprise for graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, or just because. Choose your delivery date and we’ll take care of the rest.
Will the recipient know it’s coming?+
Nope—it’s a complete surprise! We won’t contact them beforehand. For handwritten letters, they’ll just find a heartfelt letter in their mailbox one day. For digital letters, it arrives as a beautifully designed email out of the blue.
What if the recipient moves?+
Handwritten: Please email us at support@holdmyletter.com with the updated address and your verification code at least 2–4 weeks before your scheduled delivery date. Digital: Email us with your verification code and the new recipient email address anytime before delivery.
